A movement that keeps growing
The Green Karnataka Movement is Hasirotsava Forum's long-term commitment to ecological restoration. Since 2021 the Forum has planted more than 5,000 saplings and distributed more than 20,000 seed balls across schools, parks, lake margins and village commons.
Each season adds new partner sites, volunteer teams and follow-up watering plans so young trees survive summer heat.
How seed balls extend the reach
Seed balls let thousands of people participate in restoration in minutes. Native species are mixed into clay and compost spheres that can be scattered on degraded slopes, school boundaries and community land with simple safety briefings.
Workshops explain which species suit which soils, when to throw, and how to avoid protected or cultivated plots. The goal is informed participation, not spectacle alone.
Schools and neighbourhoods as partners
Headmasters invite repeat drives because students remember watering rosters and measure tree height each term. Resident welfare groups request street-edge planting to cool walkways and host birdlife.
The Movement publishes photo documentation and rough survival counts so donors and volunteers see continuity, not one-off events.
By the numbers
“Every seed ball thrown, every sapling planted, is a vote for the kind of future we want to live in.”
