A beginning rooted in purpose
In 2021, on World Environment Day, Hasirotsava Forum launched its first public initiative: planting 270 fruit-bearing saplings at Government High School, Devanahalli. Founding volunteers wanted proof that a new organisation could deliver visible green impact on day one, not only promises.
Teachers, parents and local riders joined the line. Students labelled pits, carried saplings and committed to watering rotations through the dry season.
Saplings that will outlive all of us
Species were chosen for food and habitat, not decoration alone. Mango, guava and native varieties support birds and pollinators while giving the school shade for assemblies and play.
Each sapling represents a founding belief: small, consistent action compounds. The Devanahalli grove still anchors the Forum's story when new volunteers ask where the movement began.

From one school to a statewide movement
That first drive set the tone for later programs: fruit-bearing preference, student participation, clear follow-up on watering and honest documentation of results. Eco Warriors who joined in later years often cite the Devanahalli photos as the moment they understood what "green action" meant in practice.
The initiative also showed partners that Hasirotsava Forum could mobilise quickly for credible, photogenic, measurable outcomes.
